Experimental program leads to gay behaviour at school, are we to believe this?

In a supposed bid to make students learn better a separation of the sexes in classes was attempted in a Corporate area school but if one were to read today's story in the Star news a gullible and impressionable reader as most Star News readers in Jamaica on the face of it are unfortunately when it comes to matters of homosexuality would walk away with the impression that a single sexed environment automatically leads to homosexuality. This impression is strong when it comes to certain single sexed populated schools but the perception that separating the students in this case made the boys more open to practising homosexuality, as far as I am concerned you either are or not.

The stupidity or down right dishonesty by the tabloids authors and editors still persists after all these years when it comes to gay matters after all it sells papers I am sure there will be a second of third edition on the paper today as always happens when a juicy gay story turns up within their pages, interestingly at the end of the piece one is left wondering the truth as the very denial by some of the students challenges the authenticity of the claims of gay students overrunning the unnamed corporate area school.

Gay students overrun school!

Explicit homosexual behaviour by students at a Corporate Area high school has teachers on edge as they try to cope.

A number of teachers told our news team that the deviant behaviours of both male and female students continue to manifest at the institution, despite their disapproval.

"Boys show their penises to each other in classes, and girls usually ask for passes to be excused from their classes, so they can go do their thing," a concerned teacher, who asked not to be named, said.

Teachers have attributed the conduct and breakdown in heterosexual attraction to the segregation of boys and girls at the school in some forms.

"Boys and girls are put in separate classes. It is an ongoing experiment and to this day, no one has shown us any findings or results to say it's working," a seasoned teacher explained.

They say the 'experimental programme' was to ensure academic focus of the students but it has produced homosexual behaviour instead. "I think from they split the genders, we have more gays than anything else," the teacher stated.

Another teacher revealed that the lesbian behaviour seems to receive leeway but the boys face a harder task of being accepted. "Dem (girls) will sit beside each other and hug up and we'll think nothing of it, but the boys for the most part have to do their thing in hiding," he said.

THE Weekend STAR was also told that a number of girls have been suspended after they were caught naked in compromising positions at a location near the school resource officer (SRO) office .

Teachers say females usually provide satisfactory excuses to obtain passes from the school administration which they use to leave the school compound. Once they have departed, they meet up at various locations to carry out certain acts.

"The students know how to manipulate the system. The SRO has caught them on more than one occasion at locations naked and smoking," a teacher admitted.

When quizzed about the reaction of parents and guardians to the disclosure that homo- sexual behaviour is prevalent at the institution, we were told that only a small number express grave concern.

"One or two parents will have a grouse but nobody will stand up strong. We have a weak PTA," one teacher remarked. THE Weekend STAR tried exhaustingly over a three-week period to obtain comment from the school principal, but on each occasion, was given a different excuse why she was unable to speak.

However, several students interviewed were more than eager to share what they knew.

"Yes, it's true. It happens among the grade-eight students go up," a 10th-grade male student said.

When quizzed how have parents reacted to the disclosure, he said, "A meeting was held with the parents dem and they are saying they don't care because it's what they (students) choose."

He also admitted that they are indeed segre-gated at the school.

The student also claims that only grade-seven students are exempted from the homosexual behaviour because "dem just come".

Interestingly, a female student interviewed delayed her responses to our enquiry until a group of her schoolmates walked by her to maintain the confidentiality.

"Yes, homosexual behaviour gwaan a school especially among the girls dem, yuh wah hear dem inna the bathrooms. They are also on Facebook on a page they created. Dem come back come chat who a get bun, and who a tek who fah girl."

Another female student admitted that she has never witnessed any homosexual behaviour but admitted to being exposed to hearsay.

A grade-eight female student and her mother, however, told our news team that they were unaware of the homosexual claims.

Meanwhile, an 11th-grade male student reached into his pockets and removed some badges which he showed our news team.

"This is why I don't wear my badges on road anymore because of the homosexual ting linked to the school. Thank God mi a leave school this year," he said.

Meanwhile, Sheryl Bromfield, acting director of communications at the Ministry of Education, was contacted on numerous occasions, and told our news team that she would have to make contact with the deputy chief education officer for the school.

However, after five weeks of follow-ups, our news team has still not received any feedback.

What about experimentation by teens? if the section on genitalia exposure is to be believed it is a fact that boys sometimes do expose themselves to each other during their teen years which does not necessarily means homosexual interest in later life by these experimenters as it were. Sometimes it is just "sizing up" literally showing off each others goods to boast who is bigger, than is quite normal if one were to talk to some teens, others as far as I am concerned try it out to see if they are gay or just out of curiosity.

Frankly we are used to this attempt to push the line of so called deviant behaviour in school yet when a male student fondles or goes further with a female student the guidance department easily arrives at an curiosity conclusion why can't this be the same then for same sex attracted boys if it is they are such? 

And to think it was only yesterday I was looking at an old study on hypothalamic development in foetuses and an old 1991 study from Dr Simon LeVay about the differences in sizes in heterosexuals versus homosexuals suggesting some early selection if you will of ones orientation during development and a particular item named INHA3. Maybe the people at the Star need to start doing some good reading. Despite the various criticisms regarding the methodology used in his research it is worth noting as subsequent ones on "gay sheep" and so on have come to in a sense validate his findings.

Well I sort of expected this biphobic reaction laced with anti-gay insinuations in a sense as it seems to be founded on a fear of persons being perceived to being on the downlow so as to avoid being outed as gay. There maybe some truth to that though as the gay for pay phenomenon is real, these days one only has to listen and hear the one liners in the latest dancehall songs hinting to supposed downlow men forcing or using wealth and materialism to "change" other men to commit same sex acts. I wondered aloud in a Facebook group if the study took into account behavioural bisexuality as well, which I doubt as bisexuality on a whole is not given the attention it deserves in general LGBT discourse or rights agitation and as for social interventions and recognition to double gender loving persons we know all too well the agencies here pay scant regard to that except for the occasional time as this or when bloggers mark the respective calender events.

One also has to take a look at how even the gay community views bisexuals or for all intents and purposes pansexual people who see no gay or bisexual label entrapping them.

Hence when issues/discussions like these come forth there is silence as all things gay and beautiful pervade the great and small all things wise and wonderful buggery repeal superceeds them all. This shows once again a clear lack of interest in general LGBT issues and not just the "G" in the struggle for recognition and rights. The Star News carried the following today in a follow up to the precursor to the Caribbean online study whose results are expected to be out by September of this year according to a recent communication with an officer close to the group responsible for its execution.

Several Jamaicans are questioning the credibility of a recent study that claims that one in every four Caribbean men is a bisexual.

The online study conducted by the Caribbean Men's Internet Survey (CARIMIS) has become the hot topic on the lips of many persons since yesterday and has sparked some level of controversy.

About 2,560 men are said to have participated throughout 33 territories. This would possibly mean that the survey included men from Jamaica as well.

Though the findings are preliminary, it was revealed that 15 per cent of those surveyed said they had sex with men but gave no labels, such as homosexual or bisexual to their acts.

Subsequent to the news being broken about the study, our news team sought to get some comments from several Jamaicans.

A number of the persons interviewed questioned its credibility and the sampling methods used.

Kirk Thomas, a bank employee, told THE STAR, "I don't believe in that survey because it doesn't identify the territories examined, ... one in every four ... my crew consist of 13 and mi sure I am not bisexual and none of my friends are so I can't agree with that survey."

Andrew Henry, a taxi man, expressed, "I know about myself, I don't think it is right. I think they did that survey down in the Lesser Antilles."

Interestingly, the gripping results have also resulted in numerous comments being left on Facebook.

Several males blasted the group that carried out the study on the social networking site.

One male wrote, "Lol ... these statistics are so dumb, would love to know how they came up with this ... The truth is we don't know squat, could be even more or less or not at all ... Personally I don't even accept it one out of four ... Come on."

Another wrote, "Not Jamaica ... Don't mix we up ... ."

On the other hand, several women proved to be more receptive to the findings.

One woman said, "Is true! Unno man is in denial"

In the meantime, THE STAR understands that the project, which was launched in November last year, was funded by the UNAIDS, the joint United Nations Programme on HIV/AIDS.

It is expected that the results will be handed over to regional governments in short order.

Given the homo-negative and sometimes caustic environment here in Jamaica it only stands to reason why same gender loving men overall tend to be closeted in a sense and take on heterosexual partners even have offspring so as to take the social pressure of their backs, the proverbial why don't you have a child yet or girlfriend taunts from parents or sibblings. Is it time we begin to have a serious national discussion on coming out and remaining out and also here on the rock instead of having to run or seek asylum elsewhere? be you of whatever sexual orientation, it is time we start living our truths?

Bigger issues here are on the horizon to me than just a survey on how many bisexuals that there are.

Anal Fixation (Tell Me Pastor)

After a long hiatus as you may have noticed my readers and the shouting matches on national radio on Obama's support for gay marriage rights in the United States comes this convenient letter to the Tell Me Pastor of the Star News. With threats to Miss Portia Simpson Miller from supporters and non supporters alike that if she attempts to review the buggery law the PNP may loose support all kinds of antigay drama come flying out of the woodwork.

Have a read of this latest letter to Pastor Dumas and see if it makes sense bearing in mind that anal sex is criminalized in Jamaica whether committed on a man or a woman but the matter of privacy ought to be considered.

Dear Pastor,

I am 35 years and a Christian. I got married to a man I knew in Jamaica, but he migrated to the United States. We were only acquainted with each other before he went to live in America. He came back to Jamaica and visited me at my workplace. He said somebody told him where I was working. He took my number and, the evening of that very day, called and invited me out. We went to Port Royal and had fish. He told me he was always admiring me when he was living in Jamaica. He also told me that he had got married to an American woman but they broke up. He said that she was too demanding. He was living in New York but had moved and went to another State.

He asked me if I had a boyfriend. I told him no. My boyfriend and I had broken up a year before and I had taken a break from men. I broke up with my boyfriend at the time because he got another girl pregnant.

This man took me out every night because when I met him he only had three days before returning to America. He asked me to have sex with him, but I told him no because I did not know him well enough. We kissed, but that was all. He went back to America and called me two, three times a day. Sometimes at work I had to turn off my phone to do my work. He came back to Jamaica last year and begged me for sex. He brought me a very expensive watch. I had sex with him twice during that visit.

We got married last December. On my wedding night, he tried to have sex with me in my bottom and I strongly objected. He tried to fight me to do it and I told him that I would kill him. We made up.

Pastor, I am now living with him in America and he always wants anal sex. When I am asleep, he is trying to do so. He says everybody is doing it. I told him I am going to leave him if he doesn't stop. He says that is what he likes. I am not working. I am here because I have a visa.

Pastor, please give me your advice. Many nights I have to be sleeping in the couch because I am afraid to go on the bed.

Dear L.S.,

This man is not going to stop harassing you to for anal sex. He has declared that is what he likes. He tried to coax you into it and you objected. He has not succeeded. He tried to force you and it hasn't worked. He does not respect the position you have taken and is making a big mistake by believing he has a right to have sex with you anyhow he pleases.

I suggest you ask him whether he would go with you to see a therapist. If he objects and continues to demand anal sex, you should seriously consider seeing a lawyer for advice.

Transphobia: Miss Jamaica Universe Pageant rep says no to transgender entrant in Canada beauty contest

Several Jamaicans, including the organisers of the Miss Jamaica Universe are displeased with the possibility of a transgender contestant being allowed back into the Miss Universe Canada competition.

A transgender contestant, who entered the contest and was disqualified, may now be allowed back into the competition. According to BBC News, the Miss Universe Organisation might reverse its earlier decision and allow Jenna Talackova, 23, who was born a male to compete.

Although the Donald Trump-run competition specifies that entrants must be "naturally born" females, Talackova may be afforded the opportunity to re-enter the competition "provided she meets the legal gender recognition requirements of Canada, and the standards established by other international competitions," the organisation said.

After being disqualified, Talackova had announced that she would hold a press conference in Los Angeles with lawyer Gloria Allred. It was after making this announcement that the Miss Universe organisers began considering allowing her back into the contest.

This is not the first pageant that Talackova has entered. She competed in the 2010 Tiffany Miss International Queen Competition for transgendered and transsexual women in Pattaya, Thailand. Talackova has said that she realised she was a woman at age four, began hormone therapy at age 14 and changed her sex at age 19.

But Tessa-Marie Leon, public relations director of the Miss Jamaica Universe Pageant, is not in agreement with the possibility of Talackova entering the competition.

"We have to agree with the international organisers requirements, it says that you have to be born a female. Having changed your organs to become a female should automatically disqualify you," she said.

When pressed as to what would happen if the transgendered competitor was allowed back into the competition, Leon stated that this would "be a revolution that will question the other requirements."

Several Jamaicans who were yesterday asked to comment on the possible move to allow transgender persons to enter beauty pageants were against it.

"Me don't even want to hear dat, what you are saying is really low and I think these men especially are taking this sex change thing too far. The organisers should make up their minds if the competition is a sex change competition or what," James Richards, from Kingston told THE STAR yesterday.

"They should really charge that man, he represents a lie. It is a female competition. He is a shame to the human race, me nuh believe inna dem ting, dem fi charge him," Orlando Grant from Harbour View said.

Also, Kishanie Whyte, who works as a media manager in the Corporate Area reasoned, "really really, my take is no, this person should not be allowed in this pageant. This pageant is for females.

She further said, "What kind of rubbish is that, what is this world coming to, that is nonsense, I have nothing more to say."

Jamaica has always had entrants in the Miss Universe competition, with the most successful being Yendi Phillipps who placed second in 2010. The contestants for this year's competition were recently unveiled and the competition is slated to take place in a few months.

Would you consider this response from the local Miss Universe representative a transphobic one?


A perfect opportunity has presented itself again to look at transgenderism and ethics in one go but given how the issue is being reported we may miss this golden period to use it of better understanding.

Originally when this story broke I had issues about the ethical position of Jenna as the rules for the competition stated entrants had to be born female and rules are rules in my book despite the exclusionary position it presents, she also according to reports lied on her application that she was born female. But now that the organizers have bowed and allowed her to re-enter or remain due to some public pressure she has been thrusted into the limelight as a transgender activist now, now she handles herself even if she loses the race she will be remembered for breaking the ice, speaking the truth is also of the utmost importance, advocacy in any form requires a strong ethical base to be effective. 

Will this change other similarly typed competition around the world especially states like Venezuela, Thailand and others where transexualism and transgenderism are part of their cultures and the cisgender battle with some transgender activists may heat up long after this furor has died as concepts of beauty are rigorously applied to transexuals as they are not readily accepted as such when compared to cis women. These circumstances are to be closely watched. 

In speaking to local transgender personalities they seem pleased with the inclusion on Jenna in the Canadian contest as it represents inclusion on transgender persons.

Finally I am a bit perturbed at the use of the word "transgender(ed)" How can someone by a past tense of themselves when in being transgender is there existence as a human being? Common mistakes made by not so enlightened journalists or tabloid writers and even LGBT activists make the error as well.

"Tell Me Pastor" on Bisexual swinger & switch hitting ll.......

The latest entry in the Star News Tell Me Pastor series looks at a bizarre case of a young lady (the letter writer) who found out her male hubby was a switch hitter in a sense and wanted more than just a passing fancy with both sexes while including here in the mix. 

Couple Swinging is also a feature here and there have been talk of it becoming more pronounced here in Jamaica but usually with ground rules of the extent of sexual contact and certainly not with the crossing of the sexes in as far as the accounts of the oral histories told to me.

First please see the letter from the tabloid:

My boyfriend is swinging both ways 

Dear Pastor,

First of all let me tell you what a great job you are doing. Please keep up the good work. I do not know what to do. I am a 25-year-old. I left high school with honours and went to a local university. But despite pressure from my father to do medicine, I chose to study finance. I think I live an ok lifestyle here in Kingston.

The problem is, I have had a boyfriend for the past five years. He is a really nice guy. He parties a lot and attends all the major parties in Kingston and Negril. Recently, he went to a well-known club in Kingston and met some 'new friends', both males and females. They live in Kingston as well.

They invited him to a private party not far from where I live. I decided not to be "nuff" and allowed him to go alone. A few days after, he started asking me to have these new friends (three girls and two guys) to join us in bed during sex. I allowed it once for the 'fun of it'. During that one instance, he forced me into having sex with the girls that came. While these girls were pleasuring me, I noticed one of the males passionately caressing his body and the other performing oral sex on him. I was too drunk during the session to intervene, so I let it pass.

I made mention of it to him recently and he got upset. He said that if I ever mention it to anyone else, he would kill my sister and me. He is one of those 'garrison yutes' and he said if anyone found out, he would have to leave his area as well as Jamaica.

I do not know what to do. My sister is a counsellor and she is the only one who knows about the incident. He keeps telling me he wants us to do it again, this time with only the guys. I have no choice but to believe that he is now gay. I cannot leave him, as I am afraid of what he will do to me, as he has showed me his gun before as a threat. I need help.

Pastor's response 

Dear M.,

I suggest that you leave this man forthwith. And you need not be scared about his threats. You have been fortunate to have a good education, but you have associated yourself with a man who has no class. He is not a good man. A good man will not force his woman (and my emphasis is on force) to have sex with his friends, both males and females. You made a big mistake in agreeing to participate in such sex party. These people used liquor to break down your inhibition so that they could have had their way with you. You should not do so again regardless what your so-called boyfriend says. And you should report him to the police without fear.

You claim that he has a gun and that he is a 'ghetto yute'. There are many 'ghetto yutes' who repudiate any form of homosexual practice, and that is why he does not want people in his area to know what he has become. Be strong. Don't allow this man to intimidate you. Don't give him the impression that you are afraid of him.

Clearly the hint to the man being a ghetto yute touches on down low thug culture that is fast becoming public knowledge but with a disdain added to it. The dangers as well of this kind of swapping and or swinging under the influence of alcohol is indeed dangerous that I will agree with and will impair ones judgement but the controversial issue of trust in relationships be they mixed or heterosexual is an underlying factor as well. Most persons would rather be told of their partner's choice than to find out later through some indiscretion or accident. If the letter writer never volunteered she may not have known so the knowledge may not be so much of a curse for her as she can take the needed precautions including condom use if she agreed to continue meeting his requests or demands as they  become more as instructions under duress, they she may not be able to negotiate condom use. 

I am not sure about the reporting of the police section as suggested to the letter writer as thug type same gender sex engagers do not like their issues exposed in any way shape or form and are ruthless in going to great lengths to keep them so secret.

Certainly the gay community has expressed deep mistrust when it comes to bisexuals as they are deemed incapable of being faithful to a single partner by virtue of their wide tastes in both genders.

Coincidental that her sister however happens to be a counselor but still this letters reaches Pastor Dumas and is published, group sex is not uncommon across Jamaica in regards to the second wish with the other parties being all male by the her male switch hitter but the matter of consent here is crucial. The first instance according to the letter writer was done at her own recognizance but certainly she should have expected the request would have come again after noticing the intimacy between himself and the other male. The red flag should have been raised from there. Why didn't she object from the get go? 

Why stay with him then? is it the usually dependency issue that many women face as these men support them financially so they remain to continue gaining benefits?

There have been a few other instances that have come to public attention of this nature but is not spoken of openly, I strongly suggest that bisexual issues and behavioural bisexuality also be added to the slew of subjects towards LGBT advocacy and rights as there are cross cutting issues that cannot go unnoticed or swept under the rug.

Cross dressing drama again in St. Catherine ....

The Star news has been becoming very circumspect these days in its publications regarding related matters towards LGBT issues cheif among them transvestitism or cross dressing. It was only on October 20 that they published this: COPS RESCUE MAN IN WIG, HEELS - Tricked motorists into thinking he was a woman, by the usual writer of such stories Rasbert Turner. Cross dressing in public has been growing since the seventies from memory and has certainly exploded since some of the persons who wear female attire are anatomically male but transgender in a pre-operative sense and express themselves through passing as females in public, with some doing so with the greatest of ease. Another case of effeomophobia? fear of the feminine in men.
It was also May of this year that a set of cross dressers were chased and beaten in some instances in New Kingston:

 A man dressed in wig and spike heels was chased by angry men who had stopped to assist him after his car broke down in Lennonville, St Catherine, on Monday. The cross-dresser had to be rescued by the Old Harbour police after the men who were fooled into thinking he was a sexy damsel in distress discovered the truth behind the heels and wigs. THE STAR was informed that the male was in Lennonville about two miles from Old Harbour about 11:30 p.m., when the incident happened. He was said to have been driving a Lexus SUV which got a flat tyre along the roadway. The man reportedly stopped passersby in an effort to get help. It was said that there was some sexual chemistry between the passersby and the cross-dresser. However, the police source said; "After a keen observation it was revealed that the browning was indeed a man. The 'good samaritans' became angry and decided to give him a sound beating."

 The man who showed he was quite quick on his feet, left his attackers in his dust and fled to the Old Harbour Police Station. "Yes, he threw away the wig and spike heel he was wearing and ran more than a mile to the station. The persons were shouting to send out di bwoy, mek wi deal wid him," a policeman confirmed when contacted by THE STAR. The police further said that when the man was asked to change his clothes at the station they were in for a bigger surprise. "It was really a shock when he was changing to see him wearing panties and brassiere," the police source said.

Cross dressing drama in Portmore

Another tale of male crossdressing activities causing trouble this time in the ever increasing and vibrant commercial sex trade in the vicinity of the hip strip on Port Henderson Road. Commercial sex workers and small motels dot the landscape and not to be outdone are bars, clubs interspersed with churches, what a mix?

Reports suggests that on Saturday July 10 around 2am in the morning a man who was coming from an event on the strip was on his way home according to him. He reportedly saw a motorvehicle parked on the strip with a female allegedly in the passenger side of the car, the man knowing that in that vicinity the commercial sex is done he approached the “woman” to conduct business.

They negotiated the deal for sexual favours in exchange for an agreed price, he was seen entering the vehicle by eyewitnesses where the apparent agreed sexual favours were performed by the CSW on the man in the form of oral sex. It was after the act was completed and he requested additional services that he discovered she was in fact a “he” as the services he requested require penetrative sex which the cross dresser could not fulfill.

An argument ensued where upon hearing the crossdressers voice it was clear she was a man in drag, by which time stones were hurled into the vehicle damaging it. The drag queen also defended herself by hurling stones as well and chasing him away. The man subsequently tried reporting the matter to the cops but was himself held and maybe charged for malicious destruction of property resulting from the incident.

According to sources he may also be charged for gross indecency for performing lewd acts in a public place. The cross dresser had decided to pursue the matter but “she” too may also be charged for performing said acts as well. She may not go through after all with the charges for safety reasons given the sensitivity of the situation and Jamaica’s bitterness towards anything remotely close to male homosexuality which may result in a public trial on the matter.

The police officers who got wind of the incident were allegedly in stitches when they got the complete details of what actually occured.

As news spread of the happening in that side of Portmore many persons are once again calling for the disbanding of the hip strip all together and arresting all prostitutes and those who harbour them. The debate has resumed about the morals and attitudes in Portmore with the mayor and parish council coming under pressure from civic groups and neighborhood associations demanding the changes suggested by a previous mayor to change the look of the hip strip. Many persons feel it has become an eyesore for the entire Portmore.

This is the third such incident overall in less than a year involving alleged male cross dressers involved in commercial sex the most infamous of them was “Barbie” in Clarendon which was seen on television after she was held at a police station before making bail. This demands some word from Jamaica Forum for Lesbians Allsexuals and Gays, JFLAG.

Something needs to be done regarding these persons getting involved in risky behaviour to earn an income. Then again will they engage such a population seeing they seemed pre-occupied with tackling CARICOM and other programmatic issues while ignoring or overlooking on the ground interventions that require urgent attention also given their mandate as offering social support services?

The lower groups of LGBT people are just not getting the attention.

And that infamous Barbie case as mentioned in the older post excerpted above was one of those that made the issue fully mainstream in 2009 who by the way can present as both male and female aesthetically very well, she passes easily as both. Today's Star News disturbing headline blared this awful headline again putting the same gender loving community into disrepute as predators at the school level with very little to go on to substantiate the charges. A general feeling or assumption has been made with the aid as well from this tabloid that same gender loving persons be they teens or adults supposedly have some predatory streak and are hell bent on changing or infecting supposed nongay folk or innocent persons.

A group of first formers were alleged to have been sexually assaulted recently by three lesbian students at a prominent school in St Catherine, THE STAR has learnt.

The incident which took place last Thursday has left several parents furious.

One parent who was reluctant to speak on the matter said that she is considering transferring her child to another institution.
Information reaching THE STAR from other sources is that three lesbian students ganged and fondled about seven grade-seven students in the school bathroom.

THE STAR understands that the officials at the school became aware of the incident after the girls who were being assaulted raised an alarm from the bathroom.

School officials are said to have met with some of the parents on Friday and are tight-lipped about the matter.

When THE STAR made contact with the school principal yesterday, despite the facts being presented to him, he denied the allegations.

However, a reliable source told THE STAR that the accused girls are going to face disciplinary action.

But as usual there are hardly follow up entries to have the public arrive as to the proper facts in cases such as this and no other questions are posed by the author(s) of such trope in most cases. Questions such as:

Are these females in an experimental stage of their sexual development, thus practicing same sex activity?

Were the first formers actually sexually assaulted and were they taken to a doctor for an examination or the police?

What does the Star News mean by sexually assaulted in this case as the perpetrator is of the same gender, was it fondling only that took place?

Why didn't the Star ask the school's principal to follow up on the allegations?

Where is or are the guidance counselor(s) in all this?

How do we know the alleged perpetrators are lesbians?

Are they being stereotyped because they may present a particular masculine or butch aesthetic?

Are the perpetrators mirroring a practice we know that occurs in many schools islandwide and on robot minibuses by boys and bus crews on school girls? (such as no panty days?)

Let us not forget that while we also have to be mindful or how we operate as same gender loving people as well the details in each case has to be brought to the fore and properly ventilated or in other words take each case on its own merit. It was earlier this year that the Observer published an article by Janice Budd claiming lesbian gangs were terrorizing schools  in May of this year there was some panic created as well by the Jamaica Association of Guidance Counselors in Education (JAGE) when its President Dr. Grace Kelly created a stir by making several comments on the issue, among other things a Gleaner story byNadisha Hunter summed it up - "There is a challenge in the schools and the guidance association is aware of it," she said."What we continue to do is to provide counselling and support for these children, and to ensure that we provide them access to proper information, and through the guidance and counselling sessions, the students are given an opportunity to understand and appreciate their sexuality," Dr Kelly added.

She noted that while it has not reached the stage where any matter had to be referred to a psychiatrist or psychologist, she was aware that cases have been referred to other persons in the education setting because of the nature.

The JAGE boss, however, said she was unable to say if this is widespread in the schools, as she had no data on the issue.

Dr Kelly argued that if there is need for a joint effort to do seminars and workshops on a larger scale to address the matter, the association would take the necessary steps to have it done.

She urged young persons to stop the activity as it is an unhealthy practice.
"I am appealing to the young people that their bodies are temples of God, and it wasn't designed for homosexuality," she argued.

Also it was in June of 2010 that a local sex therapist also hinted that so called lesbianism was on the rise and that girls preferred other girls in co-ed schools instead of boys.

Residents protest, force gays to leave (Star News) .......

A group of homosexuals had to pack up and leave a popular community in Portmore, St Catherine, THE STAR has learnt.
It is understood that a protest carried out by some intolerant residents led to the group's disappearance.

When THE STAR visited the community recently, we were prevented from going unto the property because of their strict security procedure. When we inquired about the matter, we were told that the 'gays' already left the community.When we pressed for further information, we were directed to the chairman of the citizens' association. But that person told THE STAR that he could not confirm or deny if an actual protest was staged.

He explained: "From time to time people do congregate and discuss issues in the park." He also said that no resident could be forced to leave the community because of their beliefs or sexual orientation. "These are owned homes, we just ask people to conform to our rules. We never ever force people to leave, we do not discriminate," he said.

Meanwhile, he pointed to issues such as speeding on the property and excessive noise as issues that they would speak to residents about. Nonetheless, the matter had become a popular topic among Portmore residents as THE STAR recently witnessed persons from other communities discussing the matter at a service station in the municipality recently.

"Police go rescue one a dem one night, the one who a the 'woman', but hear the joke, when him go inna the police vehicle him never properly dressed, so him ask him boyfriend if him can pass him blouse fi him from the dresser," a man said, which amused the others. Meanwhile, when our news team attempted to gather further details about the displacement of these 'outcasts' from the St Catherine South police, our queries were initially met with chuckles.

Nonetheless, the police source who commented on terms of anonymity confirmed that the police were aware of the discomfort felt by straight residents who lived among those suspected to be gays.

"Anno there so alone inno ... each time a community or a scheme build up, dem find themselves deh until their cover gets blown," the lawman reasoned. However, he emphasised that there were no arrests made as the actions taken by the straight residents against their non-straight neighbours did not escalate into physical violence.

My two cents

Sometimes we too make it bad for ourselves and the amounts of complaints that have come from the residents of the area namely Caribbean Estates/Innswood to be precise have been numerous, from loud music to fights to strange or surprising to some the thug characters coming in on bikes or in high end sports utility vehicles make the other residents suspicious in addition to recent sightings of a particular set of dancehall acts coming from a house known for its occupants being cross dressed and ganja smoking have not gone down well with the mostly upper middle income residents in this gated community. We have to also seriously take into account the energies we give off the persons around us and how we carry ourselves in public, sure one can be a cross dresser and still let people gasp in shock at how good one looks but not for the noise one makes or the type of characters one has around one in full view of a cynical public. 

Fresh in the minds of many in that community also I have since learnt is that Innswood incident that was shown on television Jamaica, TVJ some months ago where the police were called in to calm nerves as residents got tired of complaining of the antics of my "sisters" in a rented house. The clips of which have been online for a while but the furore has since died down on that case.

So we have to be cognizant of our surroundings guys and remind those of us to just be respectful of others views, at least according to the piece in the Star News the neighborhood persons made it clear they weren't interested in removing them due to their sexual orientation but due to the complaints, if they are to be believed.

Community did nothing to protect them

Months after homosexual residents were displaced from their homes in a popular community in Portmore, St Catherine, one man claiming he was one of those who was chased away, said the community did nothing to protect them, as they were attacked repeatedly.

"The security who were over there pointed us out and called us homosexuals and they wouldn't protect us," the man, who spoke on terms of anonymity, explained.

"I just want them to tell the truth," he said, adding that the homosexuals who lived there experienced physical violence.

The man then took the opportunity to describe in detail the abuse which he and the other estimated 20 homosexuals who lived in the community had to endure.

"My windows were hit out by children, they poisoned my dog. Dem puncture the wheels of my Kia and Levin ... If we a walk go down to the plaza, they would stone us," the man said.

He also explained that his neighbours told lies on him and others accusing them of being criminals so the police could arrest them.

"One morning police swarmed my house and accused me of doing lottery scam," he claimed.

Additionally, he pointed out, "On every cluster, the residents have problems with homosexuals. People would also run us down with machetes. They used a knife to cut another gay on his head but there were no arrests".

However, the man admitted amid the hatred, some residents were openly apologetic.

"You have good residents over there. Some of them, mainly women, came back to apologise later," he emphasised.

When asked if he was experiencing the same dislike and abuse in the community where he has relocated, he confessed, "I'm comfortable where I'm at now, everything is ok,".

When THE STAR enquired into the matter with the Jamaica Forum for Lesbians All-Sexuals and Gays (J-FLAG), the organisation said it was had been made aware of the displacement of homosexuals from the community in question.

Corbin Gordon, programme & advocacy coordinator at J-FLAG, said, "We were alerted some time ago of the abuse in Portmore ... We are aware that homosexuals are being driven out of their homes and communities because of homophobic violence."

At the same time, he emphasised, "We have a lawyer on retainer who can take up such cases."

Embarrasing Lesbian incidents

As if we did need more negative press now comes a Star headline on a fight in a girl's home and as usual the Star News has to feed us with a same gender loving grabber to create labrish and excitement. 

If that wasn't enough another fight of sorts occurred in a plaza in full view of many late last week which has been causing a stir as well. Alleged photos were taken at the time of the the very public quarrel and uploaded to a popular social networking site but have since been removed for reasons unknown.

That incident has also drawn the anger of many who say or ask why gays and lesbians have to bring their business in public?

As if to say we don't have a right albeit somewhat embarrassing as the exchange maybe but the use of public spaces for any activity not illegal is limited to only heterosexuals, if two heteros were fighting or arguing in public it would have drawn a large crowd and loads of laughter but a lesbian couple must somehow step aside. 

Only a couple months ago in Spanish Town there was another such incident involving two school girls from an institution in St. Catherine where the quarrelling couple were parted by other classmates (males included) this phenomenon of fighting in public in particular once seen more so in the MSM and drag groupings of the lower socio populations and used to be strongly condemned by other members of the LGBT community mostly from middle and the upper socio economic levels who often complain about the embarrassment and disruption it caused at parties and on the community itself so much so that the entertainment arenas became very class divided and questions would be asked in response to adverts about upcoming events like "are those people going to be there?"

I can almost assure you that a string of sensational same gender loving tinged stories are going to start flowing again from the tabloid as they go on an on again off again quest.

During fight at girls' home ... LESBIANS THROW FILTH AT EACH OTHER?

A group of lesbian girls at a place of safety are alleged to have thrown faeces at each other last week when they became involved in a huge fight.

According to reports reaching THE WEEKEND STAR, the fight at the home, which is said to house teenage girls, allegedly developed when one ward became involved in a fight with another because of her involvement with a female.

After the authorities tried to stop the fight, it is alleged that the girls went to a nearby cesspool took the faeces and began throwing it at each other and the authorities.

When the police were alerted and arrived on the scene, a source told THE WEEKEND STAR the girls went as far as stripping to prevent the lawmen's operation.

Unheard of behaviour

Source said that even with the presence of the person in charge of the home, it took quite some time and effort to get things under control.

When THE WEEKEND STAR contacted a representative of the Child Development Agency we were told that; "There was a fight last week, however, it was brought under control."

The representative said that it appears that one girl who was recently transferred to the facility met upon another girl with whom she had a fight at the previous facility.

When asked about the alleged lesbian relationships taking place on the compound, the representative said, "There are no such reports of such behaviour as we have never heard of any of that there."

The story is conflicting though as the so representative of the facility was said to have said they are not aware of any same gender loving activity taking place there but the article starts off by describing the alleged fighters as lesbians, someone is lying it seems. But the public reaction as I've seen so far earlier today is enough to justify that the Star has a winner in their camp in terms of stoking the homophobic/lesbophobic levels as many when hearing fecal matter was involved seem to merge gay male anal sex with contact with the substance as well then looping all into the realm of "nastiness"
